Thanks, I did what you said and I think I got it this time. It was weird, though. On my computer it said it was 35 m long, but when I dragged it to the Media Player, then it said 15. All I'd done by then was tell the player where to find it, I think.

Well now it says 35, so I'm good for next time I have a chance to listen. Thanks for your quick reply.

@ceci
Very strange... I've just downloaded it from the <a href="http://www.savvygirls.ca/podpress_trac/web/54/0/TheSavvyGirls-Episode003.mp3" rel="nofollow">link above</a> and it does seem to be the full 35:16.

Try deleting all the other copies you have first, then downloading a fresh one.

Let me know if you're still having trouble.

I've downloaded this episode 3 times, becaue it keeps getting chopped off in the middle. Is it supposed to be only 15 minutes long? That's all I can get. Then is ends abruptly mid-sentence. I thought it was the slow download connection I was using last night, but I did it again this morning with a better connection and the playing time is exactly the same.

I love your podcasts. I'm working my way through all of them. Have just 4,5 and 6 to go and the second part of 3 if there is a second part.

Thanks for doing the podcast.

just found you all on itunes and AM THRILLED -- I feel like "grownups" are talking rather than jpeople just talking about yarn gobbling!

Your format/sections are really interesting AND fun -- entertaining but enlightening, also. And the great classical music -- wonderful. Look forward to finding you all on Ravelry and finishing going through what you all have recorded so far. Keep going!!

Zabby,

Thank you so much! Your explanation is perfect, and I appreciate your advice. I plan to have a serious spinning session this weekend, and I am so glad that I now have a better way to do things!

Hi Girls,

I had the same issue as mentioned in the podcast. When I first started, I found it easier to spin from the wool I handcarded, called rolags. It was light and fluffy and easy to use. But at stores and the stuff that was dyed was long ropes of rovings and I found I wrestled with them. I also split them length-wise but I found that I was feeding the lengths and the result was not as not fluffy as the yarn from my rolags and the colour changes were split up between the lengths. It worked but I wasn't happy with the results

Finally, I found that the rovings were felted a bit, either from being stored in a plastic bag, or given a slight twist while commerically carded or during the dyeing. To get around this, you have to loosed the fibers by pulling sections apart, so the fibers start to slide slightly apart. Do this in along 10 cm sections, all the way down the roving, then do it again, so it moves apart slightly again. This will open the fibers and make it easier to spin. The Yarn Harlot opened my eyes to what I was doing wrong, so I'm including her blog post to give you more info.

You're doing fine, keep playing with it! Find things that work for you and take a break, to relax if your tension is getting too much (both in your hands and yarn).

Love the podcast and your enthusiasm:)
