Loved the episode! I have several Jewish friends but I never knew what Hanukkah was all about. I really enjoyed learning a bit about the history. Any luck convincing your Mom to share her latke recipe???? I love trying new things and you guys made them sound really yummy!

I kept replaying the part with you two whispering in the stairwell during the opera intervention with your neighbor. I laughed until I cried. I felt like I had done 1000 sit-ups after laughing so hard. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Hanukkah too!

Hi. I am so glad I recently found your podcast. You guys are just wonderful. Although I am a few years behind, funnily (is that a real word?) enough we are in sync, having listened to this podcast while I celebrated Hanukkah. I love the mix of knitting, stories, music, knitting, travel adventures, sisterly stuff, knitting, fiber, and your savvy parents. Oh, and did I mention how much I enjoy your conversations about knitting? Sorry Melanie.

I also have a sister who lives many, many miles away from me. She lives in Belize. I am just north of Manhattan. I have to say I am a bit jealous that you get to see each other quite often. Thanks to Skype, my sister and I do get to chat several times a week.

Thank you for a great podcast. I really enjoy listening — especially when I am knitting.

P.S. I too am a malabrigo lover. I recently knitted up Alana Dakos’ Winter Trails hat in malabrigo worsted in the color sealing wax. It’s just yummy.

        P.S. I am an opera fan & we have a subscription to the Met. I actually have a “selfie” of my knitting during intermission at the Met. I couldn’t resist. It was a long intermission & I was tired of standing around. So I went back to my seat & pulled out my knitting. It’s just such a beautiful venue. Just a little mischief at the Met.

Oh wow I want latkes soon badly right now!
It turns out that I am re-listening to all the episodes, and right now it’s Hanukkah too! My Jewish friends on Facebook (and you two as well) are all posting about Hanukkah, and so this was very timely! I grew up Unitarian, and we learned about all other religious traditions in our Sunday school, so it was neat to hear the Hanukkah story (and I got to feel smart because I already knew most of it).
And now I really really want latkes… When I was in high school my neighbours were Jewish and they made latkes for us each year and it was so amazing (though I’m sure they were exhausted by the efforts too). I’m drooling just thinking about it.
I hope the whole Savvy family is having a great Hanukkah this year!
